Fairy Cakes
Essential for every fairy tea party and fun to decorate!
Airy Fairy's Favourite Fairy Cake Recipe
(as given away on the first day the shop opened. They looked so good people thought they were decorations!)
Ingredients:
- 4oz Self raising flour
- 4oz Butter
- 4oz Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- Few drops of Vanilla Essence
This recipe is really easy!
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4
- Using an electric whisk, mix together ingredients until light and fluffy.
- Bake the cakes for 10-15 minutes, until golden on top. Allow to cool for ten minutes on a wire rack before removing from the tin.
- Once the cakes are cool, ice them liberally.
Decorating your fairy cakes
Buttercream Frosting
Ingredients:
- 2oz Butter - softened
- 6oz Icing sugar
- 2tsp hot water
- 1 drop food colouring (optional)
Method
- Beat together butter and sugar with an electric mixer
- Once well combined add water, vanilla essence and food colouring. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Pipe or spread onto your fairy cakes.
You can also add decorations like sprinkles, silver balls or sweets. See how many different designs you can come up with.
